“Addressing the Foreign Fighters Phenomenon and Counter-Terrorism Strategies” (24 October 2016, Dushanbe)

img_9909Anna Gussarova, CAISS Acting Director presented her paper on “Deradicalization Programs: Global Trends and Central Asia Realities” with lessons learnt and current practices and future recommendations.

The discussion on “Addressing the Foreign Fighters Phenomenon and Counter-Terrorism Strategies” was foreseen to serve as a platform to discuss the existing state of affairs, trends and challenges, and effectiveness of current strategies to impede the flow of foreign terrorist fighters to the conflict areas, to prevent the recruitment of new conscripts, counteract the propaganda among young people and other vulnerable groups, and identify the supporters of terrorist organizations and/or returnees, residing and willing to commit a terror act in the OSCE area and beyond.

The event was organized by the OSCE Boder Managment Security College in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
