On 7 December 2016 CAISS Acting Director Anna Gussarova and Deputy Director Farkhod Aminjonov participated in international round table on “Central Asia 25 Years Later: Results and Prospects”, organized by the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) under the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Leader of the Nation. Chatham House rule discussion touched upon the main social and economic trends, issues of regional cooperation, stability and security, and external environment and its influence on Central Asian states.
The participants tried to answer the following questions: What are the priorities of the countries in the region? Are they ready for mutual cooperation? What are the challenges in providing security? How do Central Asians build relations with external players? What is the balance of interests of big players in the region – politics or economy?
