Strategic Studies Network Working Group Meeting in Almaty

The NESA Center in collaboration with the Central Asia Institute for Strategic Studies (CAISS) hosted a meeting of the Strategic Studies Network Central Asia Working Group on August 2-4, 2017 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The working group met a t CAISS’ headquarters in Almaty to discuss the future trajectory of Central Asia and the impact of major non-regional states on the region.

NESA Academic Dean Dr. Roger Kangas led the event together with CAISS Director Dr. Anna Gussarova.  Over twenty participants from Europe and Central Asia participated in the discussions.

Participants covered a wide range of issues in the seminar discussions, including terrorism, energy security, regional stability, cyber security, etc. The views presented by the participants were turned into papers, which will be published in a collective report in the coming months.
